Age In Mind: Mental Health in Later Life

Age in Mind Change Networks’ is a new initiative which takes an innovative approach to reducing stigma and discrimination against older people with mental health needs across Scotland.

Change networks bring people together to share and develop new initiatives of how to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination in order to improve the overall health and well-being of people living with mental ill-health.

A change network can be geographical or thematic.

It can include health and social care professionals, third sector representatives etc. but it differes from other 'Co-production' methods in that it must include at least fifty per cent of people

living with mental ill-health in its membership.

Networks will develop in ways which work best for the people

who are members and for maximum impact. It is expected that a range of large and small meetings and digital/ electronic collaborations will be used. Some will be time limited, others ongoing.

The Project Management group consists of representatives from:

  • Action in Mind

  • See Me

  • Flourish House

  • Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health

  • Age Scotland

  • East Dunbartonshire Association for Mental Health

  • Health in Mind

  • Renfrew Association for Mental Health

Networks will be locally based, and each Network

will have key local partners working together on issues

specific to that area.
