Flourish House

Flourish House is an independent Charity established in 1997 which aims to enable people with mental illness to regain purposeful lives in the community.

Vision
We want to live in a society where people who have mental health difficulties are valued as neighbours, colleagues and friends.

Mission
Flourish House is a Clubhouse that enables people with mental health difficulties to gain a sense of well-being. Members recover confidence and skills whilst achieving social, financial and vocational goals.

Promoting Recovery:
Flourish House seeks to promote recovery from mental health problems through meaningful activity and social contact. Members have the opportunity to participate in the work ordered day and achieve goals related to education, training and employment. The Clubhouse has regular social events and activities, designed to promote meaningful relationships and reduce social isolation.

Flourish House works on a social model of mental health and focusses on Members strengths, talents and abilities, providing opportunities to share skills through teamwork and partnership working.

Flourish House is organised to support people living with mental illness. During the course of their participation in the Clubhouse, members gain access to opportunities to re-join the worlds of friendships, family, employment and education, and to the services and support they may individually need to continue their recovery. Flourish House provides a restorative environment for people whose lives have been severly disrupted beacuse of their mental illness, and who desire the peer support of others and who believe that mental illness recovery is possible.

Work Ordered Day:

Flourish House is divided into 2 work units that are designed to manage the everyday tasks associated with the operation of the Clubhouse. Members join Flourish House, select a unit (or units!) according to their interests and work side by side with staff, in a unique partnership that encourages Members to contribute in a meaningful way.

While Flourish Houses work is not job-specific training it does give the opportunity to experience different kinds of work in a supportive but realistic environment. Participation is voluntary and Members are involved in all a wide range of work related tasks
